Weekend how do I love thee?

Finley and Cainan were all smiles Friday morning when it was time for school. I am not sure if they were happy to be going, or happy to know this was the last day before a three day weekend.


They looked so cute together before school - have a little 3 year old conversation between themselves. I love how Cainan had his foot turned up like he was very interested in what his sister was saying.



Finley wore her first every pair of knee high socks to school on Friday. She didn't know what to make of them. She ended up liking them, but at first she kept trying to pull them higher and higher. Then she pushed them down to her ankles. Silly girl. Doesn't she know that knee highs are "in"? Ha! They are cute - they have little bows on them. I am totally in love with knee high socks this year. Each of my girls have a bunch. The love dresses and skirts, and this way they can wear them well into the fall.

Isn't that outfit so cute? Target!! Yay Target! Even the cute socks! I think I got the whole ensemble for less that $20. Frugal and stylish.

The rest of the week went well for all of the kids at school. They were tired by Friday, but did well on their first full week. Arlington's only request is that she be allowed to buy lunch once in awhile. So we are going to try that one day next week. Arlington cannot say enough about how much she likes her teacher and her class. Mrs. M. is super nice, and that has helped Arlington's transition to being at school all day. I am anxious to meet her teacher.

Today we decided to go to another local fair. This one was in the same town that I work in, so I did see a few of the students from my school. But not too many, so that was good. The fair was pretty fun, but the kids were so tired from the busy week, we didn't last long in the hot sun.

We started by watching a tractor pull. Now, don't everyone get so excited. It was pretty neat to see the tractors pulling these cement blocks as fast as they could. One tractor, the nose lifted up into the air and I thought it might tip over.


We watched a dog agility contest for awhile. All of my children love animals, so they really enjoyed watching all the dogs run the course. It was pretty stinking hilarious.


We then went to the petting area, where all three children did pet the animals. Even Finley who is always sure the goat is going to attack her. Arlington even got to pet a camel. Don't ask me who might own a camel in this town. I don't want to know.



After thorough hand sanitation, we moved on to the rides. We did eat- just basic fair food - while we watched the dog contest. Nothing special at this fair - so we stuck to hot dogs and fries. Oh, and cotton candy.

We went to the fair with friends, so Arlington rode a few rides with them.
Finley and Cainan rode two rides. The rode this car ride twice. This was the same ride they rode a few weeks ago at the other fair.



Then they rode a little train once. They loved this ride. They wouldn't sit in the front, though. Weirdos.



Arlington rode the swings. This things got pretty high and fast for a fair ride, but she loved it, of course.


She rode a few other rides and then we decided it was time to head home. Everyone was tired and hot, so we said goodbye to our friends and headed out. We missed the "Beard contest" and "Bubble Gum" contest. Not sure about those.......but they could have been interesting. This is me, having an open mind to the weird and unusual thrills of small town fairs.

The kids ate cotton candy on the way home. Finley was a sugary, happy mess within 2 minutes of being in the car.


Arlington followed right behind her. Cainan, not being one for sweets, passed on this delicacy and opted to try and drown himself by drinking an entire bottle of water in 5 minutes.


So a good day. We came home and tried out our new air condition, sat down and watched a movie together, and had a relaxing evening.

My last few schools days this week were great. Very, very busy, but not with visits from kids. I did see about 30 kids a day, but it was more about paperwork and meetings, and getting back into old routines with teachers. One of my favorite special ed. teachers and I commiserated over two new cases that are coming to our school that are going to greatly challenge us by eating a half a bag of Godiva Chocolates while we met. Chocolate and stress go well together, don't you think? We felt better after! Godiva, how do I love thee?

Just about as much as I love weekends.
