A sadness in a time of joy

I have many pictures to post of all our fun activities this week, but we have been out and about so much, I don't know if I will get them tomorrow or not.  But I will try!

But in the mean time, I would like to share the announcement of my nephew Silas Kenneth Hicks.  He was born on July 18th at 8:10 pm.  He is the 4th child of Mat's sister Carrie, and her husband Jonathan.  We are so excited about this wonderful addition to our ever growing family.  He and mom are doing well and are home and recovering.  We cannot wait to meet baby Silas!

The day after Silas entered the world, Jonathan's father, Curtis, went to be with the Lord.  He had been battling a long illness, and Monday July 19th, he died surrounded by his family.  He was buried today, and our hearts and love are with his family at this time.  We know that Jonathan and Carrie and the family are torn between the wonderful birth of their beautiful son, and the sadness they feel from losing a loved one.  We pray for healing hearts and peace and we hope you join us in this for their family.

Jonathan and Carrie - know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.  We are so glad that Silas has entered the world and is healthy and happy.  But our hearts are sad for the loss of Curtis.  He was a wonderful man, and we remember how he was so sweet to Arlington during a whole Christmas eve ceremony one year, and that they were buddies that night.  We know that he is smiling down on you and will watch your children grow.

We love you both and know that we wish we could be there with you during this time.

Life is so hard. Joy and sadness always mixed together. Congratulations to your family on the birth of Silas. I am so sorry that you are grieving at the same time.

I am late reading this post, but thank you, Jen. Of course, you have me crying and wishing that we were so much closer. Thank you for all of the thoughts, prayers, and kind words over the past week or so. Jonathan and I are so incredibly blessed to have such a supportive family surrounding us. We love you.
