Turkeys by my Turkeys

Today proved to be a good reason why weekends should only be two days long.  The kids didn't have school today because of Columbus Day.  So - we were all home.

The plus to the day was that mom came in for a visit.  She is here for the week to keep the kids and I company while Mat is away on a business trip.  Everything went downhill from there.

They have been good for the last few days that I thought we would have another great day ahead.  They weren't awful - but they were...off.  The couldn't figure out what they wanted to do.  They were whiny.  They were needy.

Cainan had a quick doctor's appointment today to have his cleft lip and nose looked at (everything looks fine) and that broke up his day, but the girls were a mess.

So - at 3:30, I put them all in the car and took them for a ride.  We wanted to go out to have dinner anyway, and so I took them to the $1 section in Target.  I kid you not.  We went to Target to buy $3 worth of items.  And gum.  I needed gum.

We came home with three little turkey projects for the kids to do.  I was very excited to see that Thanksgiving had made an appearance in the dollar section at Target among all the Halloween items.  Poor Thanksgiving usually gets passed right over.

The kids spent the evening working on their Turkeys.  Even Cainan - who at first said "no thanks" sat down and ended up saying it was really fun.  They had a great time with their $1 projects, and I was pleased that a $1 would kill at least 1 hour for them.  And after feeding them and doing this project, by bedtime we were back on track.  I liked them all again.

So here are my Turkeys making their $1 section finds:

Grammy was concentrating hard on the Turkey project:

Finley told me here she was hiding.  She is a giant weirdo:
This is how the Turkey came.  No instructions (of course it was only a $1), plus a big sticker sheet:

Finley was "secretly sticking stickers on her Turkey.  In the end, the turkey looked like it had been in a Turkey fight, and lost:

The back of Arlington's turkey.  The fence?  Yeah - she said the Turkey ran into it.  Tragic really:

This is Finley's finished product.  She thinks she is funny.  But she had a great time:
