Happy Valentines Day

Our family doesn't do too much on this holiday.  It is not because we don't love Valentines day, because we do!  Before we had kids, we would go out to dinner, and exchange cute little gifts.  But now - it is the day before Arlington's birthday.  This is the day I went into labor 8 years ago and spent Valentines day waiting for our girl to arrive.  So that is the more special memory.  That means more to me than candy and flowers (although my husband is always sweet about those things on Valentines day).
I love remembering the anticipation of our first born's arrival.  She wasn't due for another 6 days, but I had a feeling she would be coming sooner!
On Valentines day, in 2003, I was at work at a WONDERFUL job (loved this job just about as much as I love my current one).  A friend of mine there was having a birthday, and we were laughing and carrying on, enjoying her party.  At around 4pm - my water broke!  I thought I might have a Valentine's baby, but it wasn't meant to be.  Arlington hung in there until 2:25am on Feb. 15th!
But this was a great way to spend Valentines day.  For the last 8 years, I have had this wonderful memory of knowing that soon Arlington would be here.  And for all the Valentines days before that (and after that) I have had my wonderful husband by my side.  Today is just another reminder of how lucky I am.
So Happy Valentines Day!  I hope you are enjoying the day with the people you love.   And maybe a little box of candy.  That couldn't hurt.
The kids all brought home Valentines from school and enjoyed going through them and sharing what they received from all of their friends.
On a side note, Finley has started calling me "Mommy Moo Mop" the last few weeks.  It is very strange, yet very cute.  She says it CONSTANTLY.
I guess I could be called a lot worse.

See you tomorrow for the BIG 8.
