Fashionista

Today we took Arlington shopping for new school clothes.  She loves this trip and I look forward to taking her.  I definitely have a shopper on my hands!  I think we might be in real trouble in a few years.

So when we got home from our shopping trip, she put on a fashion show for her Papa and her dad.  We got Finley a few things today as well - so she wanted to join in the fun.  Cainan - I saw NOTHING!  Boys clothes are so boring.  I will try again and hopefully will get him something cute next time.

So the pictures in this post are of their new clothes!  They are slightly disheveled from a busy day.

My parents arrived Sunday afternoon to help us with appointments this week.  Monday Cainan had his neurological/behaviorist MD appointment.  We know he is struggling to learn, and we wanted to have him evaluated.  The doctor did some very simple test with him, and is having us fill out some rating scales.  His teacher will also fill one out.  She does think he has a learning disability, but we won't be able to put our finger on it until he is a bit older.  But she wanted to write a recommendation to the school that he be considered for special education services.  We agree with this 100% - so hopefully he gets the help he needs and between school and home we can help him become more confident in himself.

Monday afternoon I had an appointment and all is well!  It was nice to not have to take the maniac kids with me.

Monday night we went to our new favorite Chinese Restaurant.  It was so yummy as always.  Yum.  I love when my parents come because I love eating out more than just about anything else.

Today Cainan had his annual appointment at the cleft lip and palate clinic.  He goes once a year to check in on his progress and to discuss upcoming surgeries.  Next year he will have his nose repaired.  Mat and I have been talking about it and think that before he goes to Kindergarten we would like to fix his nose.  We don't notice the slanted side much, but we are afraid his new friends might.  So next spring he will have an appointment and then late next summer he will have his surgery.  He will spend one night in the hospital and as long as everything goes okay, we will go home the next day.  Then he won't need another surgery for 4-5 years - yay!

After we returned from Boston, we went shopping.  My mom, Arlington, and I.  We had a great time.  We got all of her school supplies from her teacher's list, and then went off to the mall to hunt for the first day of school outfit.

We ended up getting a few outfits - she has grown quite a bit (weight and height wise) and her clothes are getting too short - even from the beginning of the summer.  She loves skirts and dresses to start school with, so we had fun looking for those.

I have to say - the 7-16 size clothes - U.G.L.Y.  I want my girl to be sweet and classy.  The clothes are.....wild.  Very punk.  I don't think I am that old, but the clothes are weird!  It took a lot of hunting to find a few things that we both agreed on.

Even Finley - now that she is in a size 4/5 (she is tall!) the clothes are no longer "little girlish".  My babies - where have they gone.

Oh - just because it is hilarious - Cainan said "I am going to do a fashion show as pajama man.  Wait - I have to get into position"  And here we have it:

He is such a ham.  He had us all laughing with this - I have no idea what he was doing!

(Finley loves Skeletons - don't ask us why - so we got her this shirt)

My favorite part of the outfits - I must say - were the shoes!  Girls have some really fantastic shoes.  We found some really cute ones for Finley and Arlington.  My girls are set for school.

(these are just some of the new shoes they got!!)

Tomorrow we are going to a picnic with Mat's work group in the afternoon and then will take the kids to a park after that.  Should be another full day.  We have to wear those kids out before the weather turns cold.

The Finley's Fighters web site is still a work in progress - BUT!  I have fixed the Silicone Bracelet option on there.  Thanks to a pointer from my wonderful sister in law, Tricia, I needed a way to have people be able to pick multiple options all at once.  So now there AND here on the blog - you can click the "add to cart" button, and then it will give you the option to go back and get more bands if you want to (you know you do!)

They came and they are really cute.  I have already had a few people buy some (well - many) and I have been wearing it around - spreading the word!  Help us spread the word about Finley and raise money for RDH12 research.  We can't cure it without you!  I can't say that enough.

Okay - so order your bracelets today!  And if you want to walk with us in October - contact us, my mom, or my mother in law, Sally and we will get your shirt(s) ordered.  And if you can help us fundraise among your family and friends, we could really use your help.  Every dollar counts.  We want Finley's Fighters to reach its goal of $10,000!  We are SO CLOSE!!

See you Saturday
