Today we said goodbye to Mat's uncle Bob. It was a hard day to say goodbye to a wonderful man. The service this morning was beautiful. His son's - Jon and Jim said wonderful words about their dad. They spoke of his life, how he loved his family, and what a team he and his wife were. He is going to be missed by us all.
I had a chance to hug all of the Pletcher family today, and that was wonderful. We don't get to see them as often as I would like, and today made me realize how much I miss spending more time with them. We went to the Funeral Mass at the church and the grave side services, and then we went home.
This afternoon we went to my Nanny's house to help organize and clean a few more rooms. It was fun to go through and think of all the memories. We spent a few hours there, and then we went to my Aunt Sally's house to eat dinner and gather up all the pictures we were going to go through for the service tomorrow.
It was fun to go through the pictures. It was fun to look at the really old pictures and talk about who they were and relive old memories. We joked, we laughed, and had a good time. That is how Nanny would have wanted it to be.
When my dad was three years old, his two year old brother was killed by a car that hit him. His name was David. He died on November 1, 1952. Aunt Sally said that as soon as Nanny took her last breath, she knew that Nanny was in Heaven holding Davey. And I think she is right. She talked alot about David, and she must have been so happy to finally see him again. I know he was there to meet her.
Today was a hard day. Tomorrow will be a hard day. And Monday will begin the day that we continue one with the memories of Uncle Bob and Nanny. They won't ever be far from our minds and always in our hearts. And we count ourselves lucky to know that they are in Heaven watching over us.
