Day one of packing and Finley's upcoming Bike Walk Run

Reminder!

The first deadline for the Bike Walk Run is quickly approaching!  We would like to get as many orders for shirts to the printers by this Saturday the 5th of August.  So - please put your registrations in the mail so that we can get him a large bulk of the shirt orders by this weekend.  I really appreciate it!

Also - remember - this is a FUN run/bike/walk - there is NO competition.  No timed race.  No winners.  We decided that due to the majority of our friends and families it would be better to have a NON-competitive event - we are WALKING/BIKING/RUNNING for CHARITY.  :)  I hope that clears up any confusion.

For all of you who are still waiting on work schedules and the like, do not fret.  You pay the PRE-REGISTRATION FEE of $20/person and $50/family up until the DAY of the event.  As long as we have your registration BEFORE the 20th of August, you pay the PRE-registration fee.  The fee increases by $5 on the day of the event (or if we have no received your registration in time) to help us off set cost of mailing you the shirts.

So - if you are still waiting to find out if you can come, please do not worry.  We WANT EVERYONE to come that is able!  Even if it is only for an hour.  We want to see you.  We appreciate your support.  We want you to have a chance to bid on the beautiful baskets and the Sidney Crosby Jersey.

The next deadline to get shirts in time for the event is August 15th.  So see?  You have time.  We talked to the printer and he said as long as he had the bulk of the order in by this coming weekend, that he could DEFINITELY print up until the 15th and STILL get the shirts in time for the event.

So my little procrastinating busy friends - there is still 15 days.  See - isn't that nice?  We want to make sure that everyone has a chance to get their affairs in order and STILL attend this fabulous event.  It is going to be such a fun day.

As we get closer - we will talk more and more about the days events.  But just to give you a heads up.  Around 10:15 - 10:30 we will have an "official" start to the event.  We will all gather at the trails start and have Finley tell everyone thanks for coming and officially send the walkers, runners and bikers on their way to enjoy the beautiful trail.  BUT - the event goes on from 10-2.  So if you want to come later, of COURSE you can still walk, run, and bike.  We will have the miles marked, so you know how far you have gone.  It will be a fun day and an nice stroll, and it shows your support for Finley.  So come and enjoy.

The basket raffle and the Sidney Crosby jersey raffle will be going on the whole day.  We will be drawing the names of the winners at the END of the event.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE PRESENT TO WIN!!!  We will be able to get your prizes to you and will call you if you are the winner.  So don't worry about being there - you will will REGARDLESS!

The bounce house, face painting, balloon animals will all be going on from 10am-2pm as well.  My sister and brother-in-law who are FANTASTIC artist will be painting faces and making balloon animals.  There is also a playground right next to the pavillion as well.  We will have little packages just for the kids when they arrive, so bring the whole family.

The adults will be getting a packet of information on Finley, a personalized braille bookmark, a water bottle, and of course the shirt.

Lunch will be served from 11am-1pm.  We will be having hot dogs, ham BBQ, drinks, fruit, chips, and an enormous amount of desserts.  Lunch is INCLUDED in the cost of your registration.  BUT - you have the option to just come for lunch.  Can't walk/run/bike or just don't want to?  No problem!  Lunch is just $5/person and you can relax in the shade under our pavillion.

Please don't let the fact that you can't/don't want to bike/walk/run stop you from coming to our event.  We need your help.  We need to get to that $250,000 mark by next March and we can't do it without your help.  My goal for this event is $10,000 - can you help me reach it?

Please consider making a donation if you cannot come to the event at all.  You can either mail your check to me, or my mom (made out to RDH12 Fund for Sight) OR - you cans send it right to Spartanburg.  Here is their address:

There is also ONE more option - you can pay by credit card right through our Foundation!!!  If you are interested in doing that, please contact me at rdh12@rdh12.org and I will tell you how.  It is completely secure and goes right into our fun.  Or you can go to our SITE: (click on the word) and follow the instructions on that page to pay by credit card.  IT is SO easy and we really need your help.

Or go HERE:  http://www.rdh12.org/donating.html

We are hoping that everyone who got an invitation from us, or reads our blog will donate to our event.  Just imagine how close we would get to our goal if that happened?  We cannot save Finley's sight without your help.

The packer showed up around 10am and started right away.  They are amazingly fast.  He tackled the kitchen first which is the least favorite, I am sure.  But I am glad he started with that - means I don't have to cook for the next few days.
