We cannot thank everyone enough for all the support we have gotten for Finley this past year. And I know all of you know that the support MUST continue.
It looks like we are going to be delivering our $70,000 year one total to Dr. Bennett at the University of Penn very soon. We are beyond excited. Year one - almost in the bag. Time to start the fun for year two - which is probably going to double.
There are still upcoming Fundraisers for Finley, so stay tuned. We have a Dinner with the Women of the Moose on January 20th from 4-7pm. Come and get a delicious chicken and biscuit dinner. All proceeds benefit Finley. Cost of dinner is $6! This is in Connellsville.
On January 28th - our town's school is doing a Change for Change drive for Finley. All students K-8 will bring in change and all will go to our RDH12 Fund for Sight. there will be an assembly at the school at 1:40 pm and all are welcome.
End of January and beginning of February the Saint Sebastian School in Belle Vernon will be doing a dress down day courtesy of Donna Hruby and her daughter's friends. All proceeds will go to Finley and the RDH12 Fund for Sight. Exact date - I will let you know as soon as I know.
On February 19th - there will be a casino trip that Nancy Shultz from Connellsville will be organizing. It is on a Saturday. The bus will be leaving from Connellsville and leaving at 3pm and will be at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh until 11pm and then the bus will return. Cost is $25/person. The $25 includes the bus, voucher for food, and voucher for gambling. All profit made will go to Finley. There will be games of chance on the bus and all profits from those will go to RDH12 Fund for Sight as well. Fliers will soon be available. We hope to get 50 people to go. And you know......if you want to donate your WINNINGS to RDH12 Fund for Sight, you can!!!
Here is the flier
Up coming in our home town around Easter will be a pancake breakfast and annual road race that our town does. This year all profits go to RDH12 Fund for Sight. Once I get the exact date from the mom's club, I will get that out to you. That will be here in Connecticut.
Over the summer, probably mid to late July, or early August (depending on a few family things) we will be having our first annual bike/walk/run on the trail in Connellsville for RDH12 Fund for Sight and Finley's Fighters. This is going to be a great even where you sign up to participate, and your pledge gets you a free t-shirt, lunch, and then all profits go to our Fund. You will have the choice to walk/run/bike on the trail. You will take pledges ahead of time depending on how far you want to bike or walk or run. (say you wanted people to donate $1 every mile you went). As we get closer, details will come out.
And our biggest event for the year will probably be next fall. We are going to do our first ever gala. It is going to take some planning (and some help from some really great friends of ours), but we hope to pull it off. It will be in Connecticut. So stay tuned.
The fun will not stop! The awareness will continue! The amount we need to raise will continue to rise. We are talking in the millions, folks, by the time we get to human trials for RDH12 kids. So.....we need TONS of support. So don't forget about us.
We will be sending out fliers and mailers to all of you who have supported us in the past, so stay tuned. Mark your
Help us save Finley's sight. And save the sight of all RDH12 kids. This leads me to an opportunity for you to "meet" two other RDH12 families. These two families are part of our Fund and have been with us since July. We are family. They both made videos for the telethon.
This is Bella and her family:
Her struggles are real and heartbreaking. I am so glad Finley has this little spunky girl to share this journey with.
Our second family is the Pryor's. This family has two children who have RDH12. Meet Bill and Lily:
Visit www.finleyfighters.com and www.rdh12.org to check out some changes to the sight. We will be updating our "thermometer" and totals on there over the next couple of days.
